Tryptophan, also known as tryptophan β- Noyl alanine, with the chemical formula C11H12N2O2, is an essential amino acid in aquatic animals. Tryptophan is an important component of feed protein, the first limiting amino acid of high-fat meat and bone meal, the second limiting amino acid of corn protein meal, blood meal, poultry offal, and broad bean, and the third limiting amino acid of lupine and feather meal.
